Volunteer In The Community

The Friendship Volunteer Center is a community service program of Senior Friendship Centers providing volunteer placement for more than 491 community agencies throughout Sarasota County. There are an estimated 5,342 active volunteers of all ages in our database ready to connect their talents and interests to create meaningful and worthwhile community engagement.

Are you with an organization looking for volunteers?

The Friendship Volunteer Center is the coordinating entity for such successful volunteer programs as RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), mentoring, disaster volunteer initiatives, Florida Volunteer Certification Leadership Training, National Days of Service such as Make a Difference Day and National Youth Service Day, community service fulfillment, environmental projects, assistance for our senior population, community outreach programs and local Chambers of Commerce.

Faith Based organizations also offer many volunteer opportunities. You can connect to these opportunities through the Friendship Volunteer Center.

As a volunteer with the Faith in Action/Friendship at Home program, you will have an opportunity to make a difference in the life of an elder in our community as a Friendly Visitor or by providing Telephone Reassurance

Senior Friendship Centers is an excellent training ground for students interested in pursuing careers in health services and working with the elderly.

Programs & Services

Volunteers serve in nearly every aspect of Senior Friendship Centers - teaching classes, welcoming visitors, providing information, assisting administrative offices, helping with special events, serving on committees, helping each other learn and grow and be actively engaged in their community.
