There's a healthy spirit of volunteerism at the Rubin Center for Healthy Aging! Named for volunteer Dr. Louis Rubin and his wife, Vi, the center has receive accolades from the American Medical Association and the national media as a model for the delivery of health care to persons 50+ in financial need.

More than 50 retired physicians representing 15 specialties volunteer at the center where they can practice for the sheer love of medicine. More than 17dentists, 3 pharmacists, and 30 nurses and clinic aides, also experience the joy of volunteering at the center. Students contemplating a career in healthcare are also welcome in this collaborative training ground and benefit immeasurably form the wisdom of medical experts.

Senior Friendship Centers Health and Dental Clinics

Quality care for individuals 50+ who are uninsured or in financial need. In collaboration with the Sarasota County Public Health Unit, volunteer physicians work under a limited licensure agreement with the State of Florida. More than 2,000 patients are served annually through the medical, dental, and medications assistance program. Patient fees are on a sliding scale based on ability to pay. Located in the David Field Wing of the Rubin Center for Healthy Aging, SFC's dental program provides affordable care for low-income patients 50+. Fees are on a sliding scale based on ability to pay. Basic dental care is provided.
