Restoring a smile to patients who have lost theirs is one of the most rewarding parts for our volunteer dentists who work in the David Field Dental Wing of the Rubin Center for Healthy Aging. Dental care is often one of the first things to be eliminated when budgets tighten, with long-term affects on health and well-being.
Dental facilities at Senior Friendship Centers include a denture room, lab and sterilization room. Volunteer dentists and staff serve patients 50+ who are uninsured or in financial need. Fees are on a sliding scale based on ability to pay.
In 2005, there were more than 3,504 dental visits to our facility in Sarasota - and the need and numbers grow daily. Private donations and grants are necessary to continue providing this care in the community.
